Makkah is compact but slow. The area around the Haram is closed to general traffic at prayer times, the ring roads back up sharply during Ramadan, and hotel drop-off points sit further from the Haram than the map suggests. A driver who knows which gate to use and when saves more time than a shorter route does.

What we cover in Makkah

  • Airport transfers — to and from Jeddah, and Madinah when needed. See the Jeddah Airport to Makkah taxi page.
  • Ziyarat tours — the historical sites in and around the city. See Makkah Ziyarat taxi.
  • Intercity — the Makkah to Madinah run, and Taif day trips.
  • Hourly hire — a vehicle and driver held for you, useful for shopping, appointments or hotel changes.

Hotel pickups near the Haram

Vehicles cannot approach most Haram-area hotels during prayer times, and some pedestrian zones are closed to traffic for longer windows. We agree a specific meeting point when you book — usually a named hotel entrance or a nearby landmark rather than a street address — and the driver messages you when he is there.

Travelling during Ramadan

Traffic in Makkah in the last ten nights of Ramadan is unlike the rest of the year. Journeys that take twenty minutes can take ninety. Book transport in advance, allow far more time than the distance suggests, and expect fares to reflect the conditions.

Makkah taxi questions

Yes. We agree a specific meeting point when you book, because street addresses near the Haram are not always where a vehicle can actually stop.

The more the better, especially in Ramadan and Hajj season. For a standard transfer, 24 hours is comfortable; same-day is often possible outside peak periods.

Yes. A vehicle and driver held for a set number of hours, quoted in advance. Useful for shopping, appointments or a hotel change.

Tell us when booking. Folding wheelchairs fit in most vehicles; a larger chair may need a van. We confirm suitability before you commit.
